Walking has long been touted, correctly, as a great way to improve your mood, improve health outcomes, help prevent low back pain (especially walking outside), but it can help keep your brain sharp as well. People who are able to walk at a brisk pace have a much smaller risk of developing dementia than those who don’t walk at all, and even better than those who walk, but walk slowly. So, when you wonder ‘what can I do to prevent dementia?’ or ‘what can I do to prevent cognitive decline?’ Start by getting out and walking 15-30 minutes a day. If you’re having physical issues that prevent you from walking at a brisk pace please give a call to Mid Iowa Chiropractic!
